We’re a new busy neighbourhood “Italian Street Food and Pizza Bar” on the corner of Bendigo Street and Malvern Road Prahran - everything here is beautifully set out and is a fab place to spend part of your day

We seek experienced kitchen hands that share our love of all things Italian to assist in the operations of the kitchen. We would love for you to join our small and passionate team revelling in serving up simple, seasonal and delicious authentic Italian home style cooking and great coffees amidst dreams of wonderful Italian beachsides and city bars, fabulous Italian music and inspiring timeless design

Our daytime focus is all things coffee and freshly squeezed juices at the bar alongside home made traditional Italian sweet pastries, authentic Italian savoury street food and super hydrated Roman-style ‘pizza a taglio’ with simple but scrumptious toppings.
Our evening focus is classic and airy Sicilian-style take away pizzas, some special pastas, our much loved lasagna with our traditional home made bolognese sauce and other authentic Italian dishes

**About the role**:
The role of the kitchen hand is to prepare the food items on our products list to our traditional recipes, to work alongside our pizza chef and FOH staff to maintain a good flow of service and high quality outputs even in our busiest times and to ensure that the kitchen work environment is always clean and compliant with food premises and workplace safety legislation.

**Daily operations of this position will include to**:

- prepare the food items on our products list for sale to our traditional recipes - in particular the traditional Italian street food items and authentic Italian sweet pastries.
- support the pizza chef to prepare the pizza toppings and fillings and to work alongside our pizza chef and FOH staff to maintain efficient flow of service.
- become familiar with our recipes and ingredients and participate in stock control activities to ensure adequate supplies of ingredients are always on the premises - ensure organised freezers, fridges and pantries as required
- be experienced in and practice safe food handling in accordance with applicable legislation at all times
- be responsible for ensuring that the kitchen work environment is always clean and compliant with food premises and workplace safety legislation and all other applicable legislation
- participate in and carry out all cleaning tasks in the kitchen throughout the shift - will include washing dishes and other kitchen equipment either by hand or in commercial dishwashers as required
- ensure all the kitchen equipment is operational - promptly report any issues to the business owner
- work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment - always paying attention to detail to produce quality outcomes consistently
- implement keen interest in and understanding of Italian cuisine and culture

**Ability to commute/relocate**:
Must be able to reliably commute to our workplace and must be able to work legally in Australia including with necessary visas already in place.

**Experience**:
High motivation with at least 1 year of experience as a kitchen hand or in cookery roles. Proven past experience in Italian cuisine cooking is necessary - pasta, pizza and and/or Italian traditional sweet and savoury pastry techniques will be very highly regarded.

**Salary**: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour
