The name ‘Kooinda’ means ‘a happy place’ in the local indigenous Awabakal language. Our focus is on ensuring we provide a happy, safe and accepting environment, which reflects and enriches the lives and identities of the children and families that attend our service.

Kooinda has a focus on exploring the natural environment and they utilise the natural environment of the service and the University of Newcastle campus to deliver a program and focus on caring for our environment and developing children’s interest in creating a sustainable future.

**Of course, you will need**:

- Australian working rights
- A current NSW Working with Children Check
- An ACECQA recognised Certificate III
- Completed training in Child Protection
- Sound understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law (2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011)
- Working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Frameworks (EYLF)
