Financial Crime sits within Risk and Compliance, and comprises both Financial Crime Investigations and Financial Crime Risk Stewardship, working together to enable HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. Collectively, we build strong controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed, in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that relevant teams can take action. We proactively gather and analyse financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers and the community from the threat of financial crime.
The Senior Manager Investigative Reporting and Triage is responsible for overseeing the Investigative Reporting and Triage team, both onshore and offshore supporting Australia and New Zealand, to ensure the delivery of high quality reviews and analysis of Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorism Financing (CTF) leads for investigation and the submission of Suspicious Matter Reports (SMR) / Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) to the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulators in Australia and New Zealand, in line with internal and external service level agreements.
We are seeking a driven individual for the Senior Manager, Investigative Reporting and Triage role based in Barangaroo, Sydney with a strong background in leadership, people management, Financial Crime Investigations and Financial Crime Compliance.
This role has 8 direct reports and oversees a team of 75 staff offshore.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead the delivery of the Triage and Investigative reporting processes in line with internal Service Level Agreements and external regulatory expectations.
- Oversee the delivery of high-quality AML/CTF investigations sourced from various leads including Transaction Monitoring, Unusual Activity Reports, and other referrals through to regulatory reporting of SMR/SAR with relevant regulators across co-located teams.
- Leadership, coaching and development of high-performance teams both onshore and offshore.
- Maintain Control Owner and operator requirements for respective controls including the ongoing monitoring of relevant Key Control Indicators (KCI) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
- Oversee and locally lead on strategic uplifts, changes and enhancements to HSBC’s transaction monitoring systems and controls as deployed in Australia and New Zealand.
- Act in the capacity of the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and inform senior management both onshore and offshore of current and emerging risks.
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across first line, second line and third line of defence to ensure the quality and effective delivery of Investigative Reporting and Triage processes..
- Lead on HSBC’s engagement with the Fintel Alliance, AUSTRAC’s Public and Private Partnership and work with the internal relevant teams to contribute to intelligence sharing initiatives.
- Maintain ongoing written and verbal updates via formal and informal governance forums on the performance and effectiveness of team deliverables.
- Lead, support, and participate in key initiatives as requested as part of country, regional or global strategy.
Requirements**To be successful in the role you will need**:
- Experience as an Executive Manager/Senior Manager within Financial Crime Investigations, ideally within a global firm in the financial service industry or local regulator.
- Significant leadership experience and people management skills with the ability to influence outcomes and motivate staff.
- Experience in identifying and managing operational metrics, current and/or emerging risks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to speak with all levels in the business including senior leaders and manage external stakeholder relationships.
- Strong written communication skills, with a strength in drafting Executive Committee governance papers and regulator correspondence.
