We bring together a diverse set of skills from a wide variety of healthcare backgrounds to provide quality support services for our participants.
We are looking for an experienced **Female SW **who is hard-working and dedicated to join our team. It is a rewarding job that will give you the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the community, whilst also developing personal skill.
As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing personalised support to individuals with disabilities, with a focus on those with mental health needs.
**About the Role**:
As a personal support worker, you will directly be supporting our clients who have acquired spinal injuries and provide in-home support/daily tasks at the participant's homes.
**Key Duties**:
- Assisting participants with daily activities, personal care (e.g. feeding, grooming, bathing, toileting, dressing and dental hygiene) and medication administration.
- **Assistance with Bowel care (administering enema and digital stimulation)**:
- **Completing skin checks**:
- **Manual Handling - Hoisting (full hoist/sling hoist)** - Transfers in and out of bed and wheelchairs, using hoists as required.
- Ensure care plans and other information are followed and any changes are escalated to clinical leads efficiently and safely
- _**Using complex care equipment and carrying out complex care procedures**_
- Community access (e.g. school transport, outings), supporting clients outside the home when required i.e medical appointments
- Creating a safe and supportive environment that fosters dignity, respect, and comfort.
- Providing emotional support and companionship to participants and their families.
- Ensuring participants' physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
- Protect and respect the privacy, confidentiality and rights of participants.
**Duties & Experience**:
- **Personal care** - bowel care, showering, dressing and grooming
- **Manual handling** - assisting with transfers using hoists
- **Bowel Care** - assistance with bowel therapy (_**administering enema and digital stimulation**_)
- **Domestic assistance**:
- Prepare meals, perform light and household duties.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Confident and friendly attitude.
- Ability to communicate sensitively and appropriately.
- Understanding of safe work practices, physically fit - capable of constant lifting, bending, and carrying.
- Previous employment experience in the health/Disability care sector.
- Ability to work independently and accurately report back to supervisors.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Experience in providing quality services that assist people to maintain their independence, dignity, cultural backgrounds, values and religious beliefs.
- ** Available for immediate start **:
- **Willing to catch public transport due to parking restrictions in the city area.**
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Provide high-quality support to participants which ranges in their level of needs
- Adherence to service agreement requirements of the funded package & meeting of deadlines
- Keep accurate and up-to-date documentation
- Work independently within the community or the participant's home
- Reporting and providing updates after each shift
- Support participants to achieve positive outcomes of their personal goals as stated within their NDIS plan
- Transport participants in a company vehicle to a range of different services and appointments
- Monitor participant’s health and well-being, whilst also contributing to their skill development
- Other tasks as requested by the manager/team leader
**Qualifications and Attibutes**:
- Australia (required)
- Support worker: At least 1 year of experience
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification
- NDIS Check - Yellow Card
- Working with Children Check - (Blue Card)
- NDIS Workers Orientation
- Police Check
- Australian Driver’s Licence
- Access to reliable vehicle with current registration
