**About the role**

The purpose of the Design Draftsperson position is to provide and support the Design of a vessel from concept through to delivery, on time and on budget. Provide output which satisfies the standards of Austal, the client and regulatory authorities.

**_Key objectives & responsibilities include:_**
- Produces accurate information and documentation, which meets all procedural and auditable requirements.
- Work deadlines are met, and construction deliverables are not compromised or missed.
- Remains well acquainted with the task schedule and regularly checks progress and upcoming deliverables.
- Demonstrates a high attention to detail.
- Work produced is of a high quality and consistent with Austal and Design & Engineering standards.
- Effectively and efficiently communicate through drawings, verbal, and written means to all necessary parties.
- Consistently exhibits a proactive attitude toward innovation and improvement.

**_Required Skills / Experience / Attributes:_**

**Essential**
- Formal drafting qualifications or equivalent.
- Advanced user in drafting/modelling software eg. AutoCAD, Inventor, ShipConstructor.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft office suite.
- Basic understanding of materials and their compatibility in a marine environment.
- Be skilled in 3D modelling
- Good understanding of data and document management principals

**Desirable**
- ShipConstructor Modelling Experience
- Some knowledge of regulatory body Rules and Regulations requirements is preferable.
- Experience in Modelling/Drafting within the Marine Industry.
- Experience in Structural or Mechanical/Pipe Modelling.
- Interest in the Marine Industry.
- Construction White Card.
