The Role
The Equity Index Portfolio Manager manages global equity index and ESG portfolios against a range of benchmarks and benchmark families to achieve stated performance objectives while mitigating investment and operational risk. They will implement rebalance strategies as needed for index changes, to invest cash and/or accommodate admissions/withdrawals, effecting security purchases and sales through effective communication with the trading desk. They will also report on performance of strategies/portfolios, explaining returns across multiple relevant dimensions of attribution.
Main Responsibilities
- Use optimization software to manage and rebalance funds
- Ensure securities held in portfolios are appropriate for the goals of the account and monitor results for consistency.
- Ensure that portfolios adhere to mandated guidelines and restrictions
- Report on performance of portfolios under management and investigate tracking differences relative to respective benchmarks
- Conduct research into risk-controlled value-add trading ideas that can be implemented within the constraints of client mandates
- Maintain knowledge of financial markets, regulatory developments and the evolving index landscape.
- Engage with clients and prospects to represent our investment process, philosophy and performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and mitigate operational risk.
- Explore quantitative investment strategies that can differentiate our investment capabilities or to fulfill client requests and queries
**Skills**:
Direct equity index portfolio management experience
A robust self-starter, with the motivation, commitment, enthusiasm and drive to define clear goals and to achieve them
Experience meeting with clients and presenting investment strategies to clients and prospects
Knowledge of fiduciary responsibilities and the legal and regulatory contexts within which investment decisions are made, to ensure that investment activities are in compliance
Experience using Aladdin is a plus
Knowledge of global securities and derivatives markets acquired through work experience
Knowledge of securities markets acquired through work experience, to profitably manage portfolios.
**Qualifications**:
5+ years of relevant work experience in an investment management environment.
