About Field Day

Field Day is a new cafe nestled in the heart of Warrandyte, serving specialty coffee and thoughtful, seasonal food. We’re a small, passionate team dedicated to creating a warm, community-first experience. Our menu is designed to evolve with the seasons and with our team.

We are currently building our kitchen systems from the ground up and are on the lookout for a reliable and motivated team member to join us during this exciting growth phase.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a small team environment, is confident with kitchen routines, and is open to growing with the business. We’re seeking someone comfortable with food prep, stock rotation, and basic kitchen operations. But more importantly, someone who also wants to contribute ideas, support menu development, and help shape a sustainable kitchen culture.

You’ll be working closely with the owners and existing kitchen lead, helping with daily prep and service, supporting new systems, and contributing to planning and product development.

We’re open to different backgrounds and experiences. If you’re a keen baker, into fermentation, or food science, or just love crafting good food and working efficiently with others, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
- Food prep and general kitchen duties (including mise en place, assembly, pack-down)
- Supporting service flow and daily kitchen tasks
- Assisting with the production of baked goods, condiments, and seasonal items
- Maintaining a clean and organised work environment
- Potential to assist with ordering, kitchen systems, and menu development (depending on experience)

About You
- 1+ year kitchen or hospitality experience preferred, but not essential
- Passionate about good food, good systems, and working with great people
- Curious and open to learning
- Punctual, reliable, and able to work independently
- Values clear communication, collaboration, and a team-first attitude

- Casual or part-time to start, with potential for full-time
- Day shifts only (no nights), weekends required
- Based in Warrandyte, VIC
- Award rates or above, based on experience and role
