Kilsyth, Australia Original Engines Co Full time

Original Engines Co (OEC) is a proudly Australian, award-winning manufacturer specialising in high-quality automotive engine remanufacturing. Our work supports major OEM programs and champions the circular economy by extending the life of critical components and reducing waste. With strong growth and an expanding production footprint, OEC continues to lead Australia’s transition toward sustainable, high-performance manufacturing.

A newly created role, the Production Manager will lead and coordinate the end-to-end production operations at OEC — ensuring that output targets, quality standards, and delivery timelines are consistently met. This role is responsible for planning, scheduling, resourcing, and motivating the production team while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and workplace culture.

**What You’ll Be Doing**
- Manage and coordinate the daily production activities to meet business objectives and customer requirements.
- Oversee scheduling of production, workforce, and resources to optimise efficiency and productivity.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality, reduce rework/rejects, and streamline operations.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to the production team to ensure high levels of performance, engagement, and accountability.
- Monitor and report on key production metrics — including output, first-time yield (FTY), downtime, and on-time delivery.
- Collaborate across departments (planning, logistics, quality, engineering and sales) to ensure smooth operational flow and alignment with business goals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and compliance within the production environment.
- Take a hands-on approach when needed, actively engaging with team members and production processes to solve problems or meet urgent priorities.
- Train, develop, and appraise production team members, ensuring clear performance expectations and ongoing skill development.
- Assist in componentry and parts requirements in line with production plan.

**What We’re Looking For**

We’re looking for an energetic and capable leader who can drive production performance while maintaining a positive and motivated team culture. You’ll combine strong planning and organisational skills with a practical, hands-on mindset and a passion for operational excellence.
- Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in production or manufacturing management, ideally within automotive, component, or mechanical industries.
- Formal Qualifications or proven experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles (Green Belt or higher preferred), with demonstrated success.
- Proven success leading teams in a fast-paced, high-quality production environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with a data-driven approach to performance improvement.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to liaise effectively across departments and with external partners.
- Proficiency in production management systems, ERP/MRP platforms, and data analysis tools.
- Sound understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement principles.
- Right to work in Australia is required for this position.

**Why Join OEC**
- Be part of a growing Australian manufacturer leading the way in sustainable automotive solutions.
- Work within a supportive, values-driven team that encourages innovation and improvement.
- Competitive remuneration and opportunities for professional development.
