**Overview of the Team and role**

The National Investigations and Oversight Team is responsible for supporting the objective of Comcare and the Regulatory Operations Group to be a nationally consistent, risk-based Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulator by ensuring the delivery of effective, consistent, and targeted national regulatory operations to organisations within the Comcare Scheme.

The team is responsible for managing, monitoring, and reporting on WHS Undertakings, major hazard facilities and hazardous chemicals and Health and Safety Representative and Entry Permit Holder Training requirements in line with the _Work Health and Safety Act 2011_ (WHS Act).

The team undertakes complex criminal investigations into alleged breaches of the WHS Act, conducts enquiries into fatal incidents reported to Comcare, and provides support and assistance to families and injured workers following a work-related death or serious injury.

The Family Liaison Officer is a national role that initiates and maintains ongoing communication of information to injured persons or family contacts about the process of enquiries, investigations, prosecutions, or significant decisions following a work-related death or serious injury.

The Family Liaison Officer is responsible for the engagement of interpreters and translators for the injured person or family contact, as well as providing information and guidance about available external support services. They are also responsible for liaising with other investigating or prosecuting agencies, including the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP), about their support processes and introducing injured persons and family contacts to those agencies if necessary.

**Mandatory Qualifications/Experience**

Qualifications and/or extensive experience relevant to mental health (e.g. psychology, workplace health and safety/rehabilitation, occupational therapy (mental health), social work/science) and/or regulation (e.g. Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection).

**Special Conditions**

Some intra and interstate travel is required, including overnight absences.

**Security Clearance**

Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
