Your Role
As Principal Project Officer, Reading, Literacy and Early Years you will:
provide high level strategic advice to senior management and clients that supports the implementation of the Australian Curriculum;
scope and develop a range of high quality, evidence-informed resources to support key reading, literacy and early years initiatives;
undertake research and consultation with a diverse range of stakeholders to inform the development of support materials and resources and ensure alignment to Departmental policy;
contribute to briefing materials, submissions, papers, reports, communications and correspondence;
develop and undertake projects guided by the Education Strategy Equity and Excellence: Realising the potential of every student; and
liaise with and build positive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
About You
The ideal applicant will have the following key attributes:
An understanding of the Department's key literacy and reading initiatives; including the Queensland Reading Commitment, Reading Position statement, Literature Review, Reading Portal and P-10 Literacy continuum;
A deep knowledge of the Australian Curriculum (v8.4 and v9) and contemporary curriculum, assessment and pedagogical practices;
A deep knowledge and practical experience in evidence informed best practice approaches to the effective teaching and monitoring of reading and literacy;
A deep knowledge and practical experience in explicit instruction for teaching reading and writing;
An understanding of and practical experience in a school setting that is using MTSS as a framework for teaching reading and writing is highly desirable;
A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the range of reading assessments, including universal screeners that are validated and research informed is highly desirable;
Proven ability to manage complex projects and achieve required outcomes within set timeframes;
Capacity to engage with a wide range of stakeholders; and
High level written and oral communication skills.
