Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will provide and take responsibility for high-level and strategic workplace relations (IR/ER) leadership and delivery. The Head of Workplace Relations develops the Workplace Relations (and EBA negotiation) strategy and framework for the organisation, and is hands on in coaching and advising leaders, ensuring they have the capability and confidence to support the management of complex cases and investigations. Working closely with the People and Culture team, the Head of Workplace Relations guides and provides resources, support and advice for workplace relations matters, including key projects and legislative requirements. Planning for and managing EBA negotiations and building relationships with Unions is a key requirement, along with expert knowledge of Australian employment law and Modern Awards.

You will establish and maintain a strong and supportive partnership with the People, Culture and Safety function, providing effective, accurate and timely support, advice and coaching, particularly to the People & Culture Business Partners. This role has one direct report, a Workplace Relations Business Partner.

The keys to success will be responsiveness, building and nurturing strong, collaborative relationships, and the ability to quickly gain credibility, trust, and a deep understanding of different needs. In addition:

- Demonstrated experience in a similar role, ideally in a for-purpose, family community services, mental health, disability, or volunteer environment;
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in human resources management, business, industrial relations law or psychology;
- Experience in leading EBA negotiations and navigating union relationships;
- Strong legal and strategic business acumen, including capability to effectively brief external legal counsel, and financial modelling skills;
- An understanding of Royal Commission activity and outcomes will be highly regarded;
- Flexible and able to navigate continual change, complexity and grey;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including coaching, influencing, and negotiation;
- Strong attention to detail and a strong results orientation;
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills;
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise.
