Downer has been selected as preferred applicant to deliver Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP), the largest investment in new rollingstock in Queensland history. Design, build, and maintenance of 65 brand new trains, design and build of a manufacturing facility on Fraser Coast of Queensland, design and build of a train depot, and a huge boost to local manufacturing and supply chain - a true legacy to be created for Queensland.

We have a great opportunity for an experienced **System Safety Manager to join our team. This is a key leadership role reporting to the Technical Director on the QTMP project. This role will lead a team of Safety Assurance Engineers.**

You will be responsible for all aspects of a project life cycle following system engineering practices (ISO15288 & EN50126, EN50128). The role is to support the wider project team in ensuring that effective System Safety principles and processes are utilised to deliver against business and project objectives.

The System Safety Manager must have good communication and stakeholder management skills to support design engineers in liaising with both suppliers & external stakeholders in the area, as well as manage internal communications within projects.

**Experience**
- Minimum 10-15 years relevant experience in developing safety assurance reports with detailed evidence case with rollingstock or large infrastructure project with rollingstock delivery
- Strong knowledge of the systems approach to technical project delivery including demonstrated knowledge of key rail standards ISO15288, RAMS EN50126 and EN50128
- Extensive experience in the integration of multiple workstreams for a major infrastructure project.
- Experience developing and being accountable for railway safety cases and associated safety documentation.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills with all stakeholders, including the ability to conduct detailed investigations and provide clear and decisive results and written reports.
- Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) and eligible to be registered on Engineer’s Australia National Engineering Register and relevant State Engineering Registers.
