**Position Overview**
The Court is seeking an experienced payroll professional to lead a small payroll team and manage the relationship with the Court's outsourced payroll provider. The successful applicant will have strong organisational skills, strong communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
The payroll team is responsible for providing payroll services to the Court's judges and staff.
**Duties**
- Leading a small team to manage the relationship with the Courts’ outsourced payroll provider (i.e. Aurion) and the end of pay, end of month and end of year payroll processes for employees and judicial officers.
- Ensuring pay variations such as terminations, contract variations and leave requests are correctly processed by the payroll provider.
- Providing information to judicial officers in relation to certain entitlements.
- Interpreting relevant pay and conditions legislation and making decisions and providing advice in accordance with relevant legislation and the Courts’ enterprise agreement.
- Developing and coordinating the provision of a suite of payroll related reports and trend analysis to meet the Courts’ management and operational requirements.
- Initiating and leading the development and implementation of process improvements that support the Courts’ Corporate Plan.
- Working closely with the Human Resources team to ensure information is flowing into the payroll related system efficiently.
- Extracting data from Aurion and reconciling for reporting purposes, including providing data for inclusion in the annual report.
- Other duties as required.

**Selection Criteria**
- Demonstrated ability to advise employees’ entitlements and administer payroll (preferably using Aurion). Previous experience in the Australian Public Service would be an advantage.
- Proven ability to research, analyse and report on complex human resource management and industrial relations matters, including the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of policies and practices.
- Well-developed administrative skills, including the ability to effectively prioritise and deliver outcomes.
- High-level interpersonal skills.
- Excellent writing skills with a strong focus on attention to detail.
