
Disability Support Worker

**Duties and responsibilities may include**:
- Domestic assistance (household cleaning)
- Assist with personal care (showering, toileting, grooming, dressing)
- Experienced in hoist and mobile hoist use and commode
- Transport (recreational activities, doctors’ appointments)
- Preferred training in PEG feeding.
- Able to work independently within the community or the participant's home, reporting after each shift
- Communicating with team members, family members, allied health services and other support services
- Adherence to service agreement requirements & meeting of deadlines;
**To be successful for this role, you will need**:
- Qualifications in Disability/Community Services/Mental Health or similar is preferred; OR studying towards; OR a desire to learn
- Cert III or above in community services or individual support or extensive experience in providing high quality support to individuals with additional needs
- Extensive experience being 1+ years’ experience providing core support services including personal care is essential to a complex and high needs participant, experience with hoists and sling use.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviours
- Current First Aid Certificate (less than 3 years old)
- Current National Police Check (less than 3 years old)
- Current drivers licence & access to a fully insured vehicle
- NDIS Worker Screening check or ability to obtain one + NDIS ‘Quality, Safety & You’ Certificate
- Smartphone with internet access and willingness to use your personal phone to report case notes and receive shift notification
- Ability to work independently
- Respect for the rights, dignity and ability of all our participants
- An openness to working long and short shifts, weekends and potentially overnight shifts
- Ability to prioritize and manage competing demands
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of culturally appropriate and sensitive services to people of CALD or NESB background
- Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD)/Non-English Speaking Background (NESB)
- High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and negotiate with a range of internal; and external stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the confidence and capacity to contribute to support plan documentation, incident reporting and any other required paperwork
- Ability to support participants with capacity building, assisting participants in achieving their personal goals as stated within their NDIS plan.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality participant service and continuous improvement strategies
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to work autonomously to complete tasks within set timeframes
**Job Type**: Casual/Part Time/Full Time
**Salary**: From $27.00 per hour
