The Salvation Army Geelong serves the Geelong community bringing hope to those most in need offering programs and services for youth, seniors, counselling, men’s ministry, spiritual ministry, Just Brass and companion club.

We are seeking a values-driven and pro-active Casual Thrift Shop Assistant to assist the Thrift Shop Manager and Assistant Thrift Shop Manager ensuring quality customer service, diligence in cash handling and banking, quality sorting of donated goods, pricing and maintaining the general appearance and upkeep of the shop

Responsibilities include:
Retail Management
- Maximise sales and revenue through processing of donations to the store
- Deliver excellence in customer service
- Supervise volunteers in the absence of the Assistant Manger
- Provide supervisory assistance to the Assistant Manager and Shop Manager
- Open shop on time and close the shop at the end of trading

Finance and Administration
- Assist with the store financial processes including completion of daily cash reconciliation, preparation of cash floats and banking

Work Health and Safety
- Ensure a safe workplace through the ongoing promotion of work health and safety standards
- Uphold the cleaning and maintenance of store and facilities

This casual position is located at our Geelong West Thrift Shop, 54 Shannon Ave Geelong West.

What you will bring
- Certificate in Retail Operations / Diploma of Business (desirable)
- Experience working with volunteers (desirable)
- Retail experience with demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service to ensure customers’ needs are met with dignity and respect
- Basic working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
