**About the role**:
Rabobank’s Credit Risk Management team is an independent pro-active risk management team within Risk 2nd line of defence. The team now has an opening for a Credit Approvals Manager supporting the VIC/TAS/WA Territory. This role will oversee the credit granting process as it relates to Rabobank’s Country Banking / rural lending business. This role can be based in locations across Rabobank offices (Victoria, Tasmania or Western Australia preferred).

Due to an internal movement Rabobank's Credit Risk team has an opening for Credit Approvals Manager. This is a hands on role with no direct reports. In this role you will challenge the first line of defence & engages with Second / Third line colleagues on a timely & proactive basis to achieve & maintain a high-quality portfolio by reducing credit & operational losses, ensuring that risks (financial & non-financial) are properly identified & addressed & that trends are recognised & acted upon.

**Top Role Accountabilities**:

- Responsible for second line transactional engagement with the Country Banking business from loan origination through to approval. Ensure that risks are properly identified & clients & transactions fit the risk appetite whilst acting as a decision maker with delegated authority
- Be fully accountable for all decisions with delegated authority & appropriate communication of decisions in a timely manner
- Independently form an opinion on the acceptability of the risk, in terms of credit, structure, legal, tax & commercial aspects, to ensure high quality & timely decisions are made to facilitate an effective approval process
- Maintain strong working collaboration & provide guidance & support to branch staff & management on the content, structure & account management strategies
- Detecting changes in the internal & external context, including changes to risk criteria & the risk itself which can require revision of risk treatments & priorities
- Management of credit account management requirements, including account excesses, overdue reviews to ensure adequate account control across the credit portfolio
- Provide input into the ongoing development of credit policies and procedures and product development

**To be successful in the role, you will have**:

- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a credit risk role
- Exposure to either lending into the Rural/Agricultural or Middle Market Commercial sectors preferred
- A thorough understanding of Credit Risk Management within the financial services industry & related regulatory standards (ECB, APRA)
- Solid credit risk analysis & assessment skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills
- Ability to communicate all outcomes / decisions confidently & empathetically
