We firmly believe in providing a great experience to our Bankers and Customers by delivering the services they require, using our technology that works seamlessly and provides the right features and information which will support them to thrive.
As a Release Lead, you’ll champion Agile ways of working across multiple squads, and will be working with Product Owners, Analysts and Release / Delivery Leads across Tribes to convert business initiatives into cross-platform releases of new technology features or enhancements successfully.
What will your day look like
The Release Lead is a servant leader who fosters a continuous improvement culture and a supportive environment. Depending on the day you might be:
Providing Release Management as a service to the Tribe, working closely with Squad Product Owners, Engineers and Technical leads to coach, plan and manage successful implementation across multiple products and teams
Supporting and incorporating best practices in asset and services implementation, enabling squads to rapidly, reliably and efficiently develop, test and release high quality solutions to deliver value for customers.
Influencing squads to transform release processes to improve delivery and help manage inter-Tech Area dependencies
Promoting and communicating planned releases to ensure full visibility by all stakeholders
Facilitating and leading agile release planning sessions and ensuring outcomes are well communicated and agreed to
Driving a collaborating culture within the Tribe, providing transparency on priorities and ensuring customer outcomes are delivered on time.

Overseeing the approval and management of deployment activities into production e.g. code deployment, via representation to the Tribe Change Forums and Business Review Boards
Establishing the delivery of governance, transition and approval of artefacts and processes to enable a release to progress as planned.
Co-ordinating and executing release activities in-squad, across squads, and at times, across tribes
Establishing and co-ordinating tribe-external engagements, for the purposes of release delivery
Providing input into value assessment and do-ability
Driving continuous improvement of the release management framework and help coach and educate less experienced parties
Developing, implementing and leveraging an Agile Release Train where required, to enable a cadenced delivery regime for the tribe to use
Encouraging common understanding of release planning and design skills, across the tribe, to enable others to play their role in managing change in a complex operating environment
Developing and embedding release engineering practices to influence the optimisation and flow of value through the releases
Ongoing tracking and resolving impediments for the release as well as post release
What will you bring?
We know not everyone will bring all of the skills and experience, and at ANZ we are focused on people bringing a growth mindset to their approach to work. Some of the skills we are looking for are below, but don’t worry if you don’t have all of these as learning on the job is the way we work. But back to some of the skills:
Experience in scheduling work to optimise workflow/throughput through a number of Technology Areas to maintain velocity and team cadence
You will have at least 15+ years of experience in project delivery roles that encompass people, process and technology liaising with multidisciplinary teams implementing agile based software product increments
Strong agile fundamentals and experience working in a pure agile / scaled agile delivery environment

Exceptional stakeholder management experience
Ability to influence & negotiate via a variety of strategies, to build string stakeholder buy-in
An understanding of the delivery process and how it’s applied across squads/tribes
Ability to develop an iterative delivery plan inclusive of schedule, staffing and success release criteria
Able to understand technology principles and tools, to effectively provision and co-ordinate complex interdependencies as they are expressed in installations and implementations
Knowledge and experience with cross-platform/cross tribe integration testing
