**Overview of the Branch and Section**:
The Australian Border Force (ABF) is an operationally independent body under the Home Affairs Portfolio. The ABF is responsible for operational activity that supports the Australian Government’s border protection, investigations, compliance, detention and enforcement functions.

Within the ABF, Air and Marine Capability Branch (AMCB) is responsible for the capability management of a fleet of air and marine surveillance, patrol and response assets. Our capabilities include ocean going patrol boats, shallow water and coastal response vessels and contracted aircraft. AMCB operates in a complex, challenging and changing environment that is characterised by a continual high tempo of operations.

**The Cape Class Patrol Boat In-Service Support Section **is responsible for the In-Service Support of eight Cape Class Patrol Boats. This includes ensuring that planned and emergent maintenance activity is completed to budgetary and operational requirements in accordance with the overarching technical and regulatory framework.

**About the roles**:
The Superintendent,Cape Class Patrol Boat In-Service Supportbased in Canberrawill lead a diverse and distributed team including a team of Ship and Contract Managers responsible for the provision of and management of high-risk high-value contracts for the eight Cape Class Patrol Boats.

**Specific duties/responsibilities**:

- Manage timely services for the ABF fleet.
- Manage high risk-high value contracts.
- Provide high-level advice, reports and services to the Minister and the ABF Executive.
- Lead and direct a diverse and distributed team.
- Availability for interstate travel is essential to performing the role, as is working out of hours as required.

**Role requirements/qualifications**:

- Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams.
- Qualifications and/or significant experience in high risk-high value contract management.
- Strong communications, negotiation, reporting, project management and financial management skills.
- Experience in undertaking a similar role(s) in a maritime environment is preferable, but not essential.
- Possess or able to obtain and maintain an NV1 security clearance.

To be eligible to work with the Department of Home Affairs you must:

- Be an Australian Citizen
- Obtain and maintain the required AGSVA clearance
- Obtain and maintain a current Employment Suitability Clearance
- Undergo a health assessment (where applicable).
