An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and highly motivated individual to join Industrial Relations Victoria branch as Director, Gig Worker Support Service at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The Industrial Relations Victoria group is seeking an experienced strategic government reform leader to support the implementation of the Victorian Government's initiatives in response to the Inquiry into the Victorian On-Demand Workforce. ‘On-demand work' (also known as ‘Gig work') refers to any work in the labour market being procured on-demand and includes casual employment and self-employed workers or independent contractors. A key mechanism through which on-demand work is accessed is via digital platforms (platforms) that match workers and clients for services.
The Director, Gig Worker Support Service, provides strategic leadership of a complex customer-focused government service that is a critical to the achievement of the Victorian Government's commitment to fair work for its citizens.
Specifically, this involves leadership of a support service within Industrial Relations Victoria (the Gig Worker Support Service) for gig workers and platforms, including advice in relation to workers' entitlements and work status and administration of the Fair Conduct and Accountability Standards for the Victorian On-Demand Workforce (the Standards).
To be successful in the role you will have strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, together with excellent negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills.
About you
- Demonstrated experience providing strategic leadership of complex customer-focused service within a government context.
- Demonstrated experience in the continuous improvement of service plans, policies and procedures leading to improved performance and effectiveness in support of outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal, representational and communication skills, including the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a range of government and non-government stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in interpreting shifts in the policy and operational environment to develop clear and persuasive strategy and products that continually meet the needs of a diverse audience.
- An understanding of the On-Demand Work environment and awareness of the employment issues facing workers and platforms.
