An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and experienced Grade 1 Medical Laboratory Technician to join our Microbiology department due to a return from maternity leave in a part-time capacity. Previous employment in a diagnostic Microbiology laboratory is essential. This position is a part-time (40 hours per fortnight), afternoon-shift position (currently 15:00-23:30).
The successful applicant will be involved in a team, processing specimens using manual and automated systems to generate clinically valuable information for diagnosis and treatment of infections. Please refer to the Position Description for the requirements of this position.

Selection Criteria Essential: A relevant qualification and demonstrable Microbiology knowledge and experience processing specimens in a Microbiology laboratory
Essential: Ability to work both independently, and in a team environment with good interpersonal and communication skills.
Essential: Availability to work afternoon shift (currently 15:00-23:30) and have flexibility to adjust hours if the shift-time changes slightly
Desirable: Experience with Microbiology automation (eg Kiestra, MALDI-TOF, Urine analyser, Blood culture machine, Vitek, BDMAX, GeneXpert etc), AUSLAB LIS will be highly regarded.
