**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
We have an exciting opportunity within our City Services Directorate for an experienced Manager Waste and Ranger Services who will oversee the day to day operations of the waste services and general regulatory functions including Rangers and Parking Patrol ensuring successful management and delivery at our progressive Council.
Reporting to the Executive Manager City Operations, this role will utilise leadership skills to plan, manage and monitor resources and be accountable for the service area budget including obtaining alternative income and revenue generation.
Your responsibilities will include coordinating staff and contractors to pick up and deliver waste and recycling material and managing waste contracts whilst recording on these matters to identify areas of improvement for an efficient and effective service to the community. In this role, you will also ensure the Ranger team maintain and enforce standards and the Parking Patrol team monitor the local government area and issue relevant notices.
The successful applicant will require:
- Tertiary qualifications relevant to this area of responsibility or equivalent experience.
- Extensive operational knowledge of relevant legislation (Acts, Regulations and supporting Guidelines/Standards/Codes).
- Demonstrated experience in waste operations and/or regulatory services.
- Developed understanding of the technical features of waste service management.
- Experience in contract management related to the provision of waste services.
- Demonstrate high level analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work with internal and external stakeholders in a politically sensitive environment.
- Experience in the supervision of staff, including their professional development, performance management and reporting against set benchmarks.
- Developed public relations and conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of WHS legislation and EEO principles.
- Class C drivers licence.

**Position information**: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight., with flexible start and finish times and core hours from 9:30am to 3:00pm.
This role is predominantly located at Council's Merrylands Office and Auburn Depot, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations.
**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 17 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $3,030.91 to $3,485.55 per week, plus 10.5% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
