You will be supported on the job by experienced staff and management, as part of the team working to keep the WA community safe.
**Various locations available**
We are currently seeking Prison Officers for facilities in the Perth metropolitan area, Albany, Bunbury, Greenough (Geraldton), Roebourne and West Kimberley (Derby).
In Perth, you will be placed to Bandyup (West Swan), Casuarina (Casuarina), Hakea (Canning Vale) or Melaleuca (Canning Vale).
**As a Prison Officer**
You will interact with minimum to maximum security prisoners on a 24/7 roster system. Prison Officers are responsible for ensuring the safe, secure, and efficient operation of prisons and effective management of prisoners. You can make a real difference by modelling positive behaviours and motivating prisoners to gain skills and knowledge to re-enter the community, to reduce the risk of re-offending.
**We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate**:
- Great communication skills to build positive relationships with a diverse prisoner population.
- A practical and common-sense approach to solving problems and being able to adapt to challenging situations.
- Excellent team working skills with colleagues and prisoners to achieve personal and professional goals.
- An awareness and understanding of Aboriginal people and their culture.
**Experienced adult custodial officers**
Successful applicants with relevant adult custodial qualifications and experience may be eligible for an Accelerated Training Program (ATP) at the Academy. These programs allow experienced officers who meet the eligibility requirements to complete their training within a shorter period. Refer to the Information Booklet for details.
