Approvals Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

- Coordinate environmental, mining, heritage, and tenure regulatory approvals with external approvals contractors for Major Projects in accordance with project schedules
- Work closely with project, site, and functional approvals teams during project study phases to assist with developing approvals pathways and scoping approval requirements in accordance with government requirements
- Maintain the approvals register for the Major Projects portfolio, review and maintain approvals documentation, and communicate approval risks and delays to the Approvals Lead
- Ensure contractor compliance with approval requirements during project execution, including conducting audits and inspections against the Construction Environmental Management Plan and other management plans
- Develop reports on compliance for contractor management and Government departments
- Actively promote and comply with our client’s values and policies

Qualifications and Skills:

- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Law, Engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge of Western Australian and Commonwealth approvals legislation and policies
- Understanding of project and engineering documentation and ability to interpret into approvals documentation
- Ability to work with approvals contractors and conduct site-based inspections and audits
- Ability to plan and prioritize work to ensure approvals deadlines are met
- Ability to communicate and develop relationships with approvals contractors, study and program managers, operational and site-based teams
- Experience in conducting audits and/or inspections

**Experience**:

- Approximately five years’ experience in the same or similar role in the mining and/or processing industries

Competencies:

- Knowledge of approvals legislation related to the mining/or processing industries
- Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders to deliver approvals outcomes
