**About the QVSA**: The Queensland Virtual STEM Academy (QVSA) is a State schooling initiative which delivers courses to expand and enhance STEM opportunities for highly capable student in grades 5-9 through enriching and challenging courses. The learning is aligned to, and enriches the Australian curriculum, but does not replace the delivery of ACARA by student's classroom teachers.
Who is QVSA designed for? The QVSA program brings together likeminded, highly capable or high potential students who would benefit from and contribute to a motivated STEM learning community. **Your Opportunity**:
The Head of Department (Teaching and Learning - Digital Innovation) within the QVSA network includes the embedding of future focused digital teaching practices across the QVSA network and related programs. This includes both the enhancement of asynchronous virtual learning tools and pedagogical approaches for real time virtual delivery.As a leader of innovative digital teaching and learning, you will be expected to develop a systematic and whole of QVSA network approach to the use of innovative and emerging digital platforms, pedagogies and learning management systems, in particular QLearn. Your role will continue to enhance the capability and confidence of existing QVSA staff and provide models and processes for broader system use.As a HoD within the QVSA you will have a virtual teaching role and be required to plan and deliver virtual STEM enrichment programs and/or year 5/6 science curriculum to students in grades 5-9 as part of the core QVSA function and virtual learning exploration and pilots. The applicant will work with participating schools to enable innovative approaches, create communities of practice between QVSA sites and Science pilot sites.This opportunity would best suit educators who have proven ability and experience:

- in identifying and enabling innovative future-focussed learning approaches in virtual learning delivery.
- in the use of QLearn and have completed QLearn training.

You will work as part of a highly supportive QVSA network team and be based at the Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology (QASMT) under the supervision of the QASMT Principal.

**Your Role: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:

- Developing staff capability in synchronous pedagogy for virtual delivery using the platform (iSee) across the QVSA network and small schools' science program.
- Establishing a structure, workflows and courses to enhance teacher use of QLearn across the QVSA and small schools' science pilot program.
- Developing staff capability in asynchronous pedagogy for virtual delivery using QLearn across the QVSA network and small schools' science program.
- Establishing QLearn courses to support 'out of area" teaching or "inexperienced" teaching of year 5/6 of science.
- Identifying and capturing effective digital pedagogical practice in the use of iSee and developing a library of practice to support teacher digital capability across the state.
