**DESCRIPTION**

**You will make an impact in the following ways**:

- Repowering vehicles for development, testing and analysis
- Facilitating vehicle and engine dyno testing for critical validation activities
- Perform metal fabrication tasks to create tailored parts.
- Construct wiring looms using various connectors and components.
- Work with performance engineers to develop measurement techniques.
- Aid in test and teardown procedures so reports can be completed.
- Document test results for technical reports.
- Coordinate programs including planning, scheduling, ordering and tracking.
- Participate in the maintenance of quality procedures.
- Participate in Cummins product and technical / engineering training programs.
- Participate in Failure Mode Effects Analysis and perform some data analysis.
- Demonstrate adaptability and responsiveness to changing work needs and willingness to undertake new tasks as they become evident.
- Engage in continuous learning to be prepared for changing work demands.
- 38 hours per week (Mon-Fri 07:30 - 16:00)
- This role is a fixed term 2 year contract_

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Critical Competencies**:
**Product Function Test System Design** - Interprets test equipment specifications from test standards or lab customer requirements; selects and integrates appropriate equipment, instrumentation and software to control boundary conditions and collect measurement data; assesses capability of the lab equipment against the requirements and support infrastructure.

**Test Article Build** - Assembles test articles according to test requirements, including all necessary installation or accommodations for instrumentation, in a manner that allows the test articles to successfully undergo product functional test.

**Test Setup and Configuration** - Interprets test plan to determine optimal location and orientation within a test space in accordance with local safety and environmental requirements and fabricates required system with appropriate materials.

**Manages complexity** - Making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.

**Health and Safety Fundamentals** - Champions and models proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting and participating in actions to improve health and safety in order to build an interdependent culture and contribute to an injury-free workplace.

**Preventative and Predictive Maintenance** - Interprets machine and tool maintenance records and data to develop and execute preventative and predictive management strategies to drive continuous improvement within the manufacturing process.

**Data Quality** - Identifies, understands and corrects flaws in data that supports effective information governance across operational business processes and decision making.

**Problem Solving** - Solves problems and may mentor others on effective problem solving by using a systematic analysis process by leveraging industry standard methodologies to create problem traceability and protect the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; identifies the systemic root causes and ensures actions to prevent problem reoccurrence are implemented.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**To be successful in this role you will need the following**:

- Possess a drive for results - be action oriented, taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.
- Be able to plan and manage complex integration projects requiring custom made parts.
- Be an innovate thinker, passionate about new engine technology and products
- Be a strong communicator, able to develop relationships with internal teams and external customers
- Be highly autonomous and be able to adjust work priorities in order to meet demands
- Relevant mechanical trade qualifications as a Heavy or Light Vehicle Mechanic (to Australian standards).
- Have strong diagnostic and IT capabilities
- Have strong health, safety and environment focus

**Preferred but not essential**:

- Electrical wiring and electrical loom making
- Metal fabrication, welding, TIG and MIG
- Experience with Cummins engines or other HHP Diesel Engines would be highly regarded
- Ability to utilise measurement and calibration instruments would be highly regarded
- Strong computer skills are highly desirable.
