**Purpose**

The primary objectives of the positions are to:

- Upskill a trainee in Water Industry practices to support the Water Treatment and Water Resources teams.
- Perform operational activities associated with Water Treatment and Water Resources assets.

**Key Duties/Responsibilities**

As a key member of the Water Treatment & Water Resources Teams, the incumbent will be trained, mentored and
supported to reach as a minimum a solid understanding, whilst aiming for compentency across all of the following:

- Operate various water treatment plants that utilise different processes and technologies typically in a

multi barrier approach, to provide the CHW communities with great tasting and safe drinking water at all
times.

- Perform Water Treatment Plant operational performance checks and calibrations in accordance with

documented programs, schedules and standards.
- Enter required checks and calibration information into the digital program WIMS.
- Operate and maintain headworks assets including dams, inlet/outlet works, foreshore and downstream

areas, channels and stream diversions in accordance with documented programs, schedules and
standards.
- Conduct visual assessment of surface waters, routine and non-routine water sample collection, storm

monitoring and operation of water diversions. Assist with water storage water health checks and data
collection.
- Assist with Blue-Green algae routine operational monitoring and identification, sample collection and

response (in accordance with CHW Blue Green Algae Management Plan)
- Dam Safety monitoring, works and activities
- Other duties as directed.

Comprehensive training, supervision and support will be provided for the incumbent to ensure adequate competency
is attained in operations, before transitioning to a more autonomous work model.

- Responsible for carrying out required routine work activities as directed by the Team Leader.***

- At all times, create, maintain and foster a safe work environment and ensure compliance with the provisions

of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and CHW policies and procedures.

- Training, mentoring and support will be provided to allow the successful applicant to gain the knowledge,

skills and confidence to allow some discretion in the performance of tasks, and the opportunity to make minor
process changes as required.
