To provide specialist expertise, strategic input and advocacy on behalf of
Council on issues relating to improving the quality of life for children and
families, living in the Blue Mountains.
- To assess the needs and facilitate the development of targeted services and
facilities for children and families living in the Blue Mountains.
- To lead and maintain positive group functioning and engagement within the
Stronger Families Alliance (SFA) groups and coordinate with other networks
focused on children, young people and families.
- To provide specialist advice to Council regarding policies, programs and
issues relating to children and families

**Key External Relationships**:Blue Mountains Stronger Families Alliance (SFA),
Department of Family and Community Services
(FACS), Government agencies, community
organisations and relevant forums and networks.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES -**
Contribute to help Council deliver its sustainability goals.
- To assess and document the needs of children and families as part of
Council’s community planning processes
1To plan, facilitate and provide input into the development of services, facilities,
policies and other initiatives for children and families in the Blue Mountains
which address identified needs and support the achievement of the 25 year
City Vision and Map for Action. This will be done in partnership with relevant
local and regional forums, State and Federal Government, local community
organizations and residents of the local area.
- To advocate on behalf of Council for needed Children services at the Local,
Regional. State and Federal levels.
- Ensure the Child and Youth Plan, and other Councils plans for children and
young people are meeting emerging community needs, using evidence based
approaches to improving child and family outcomes.
- Provide an Interface with external stakeholders on behalf of the SFA and
Council that impact on the functioning of the child, youth, family and
community service system in the Blue Mountains.
- To actively participate in Branch and Team projects.
- Develop and manage processes that enable SFA stakeholder organisations to
develop and implement the Blue Mountains Child and Youth Plan (C&F Plan).
The job activity includes developing: (i) stakeholders’ joint vision and strategy
(ii) alignment between stakeholders programs and activities (iii) shared
measurement & data based decision making (iv) community engagement (v)
influence on public policy (vi) funding pools.
- Develop policy and procedure to develop the SFA network in consultation with
SFA members and the Council.
- Provide overall project management, support and guidance to the SFA
network.
**Other Duties**:
- Participate in and provide relevant planning and strategy development as
directed.
- Undertake other duties as directed by the Team Leader, Community
Outcomes including assisting other team members with the implementation
of Councils Community Strategic Plan, other regulatory reporting documents
pertaining to the Local Government Act and community events as required
