Water Operations Trainee

This two year opportunity through NextGen Jobs and South East Water will see you managing maintaining and optimising the performance of South East Water’s Sewerage & Water System Supply, working within the Infrastructure Operations Service Delivery space.
Whilst working across South East Water’s sites you will learn through on-the-job experience and structured learning through a registered training organisation. On successful completion of your traineeship, you will have gained a Certificate III in Water Operations.
South East Water is a state owned corporation that manages a broad service area, from Port Melbourne to Portsea and out to 30 km east of Pakenham. They deliver water sewerage and recycled water services to 1.87 million people who rely on them every day and every night. Every time you turn on a tap, flush a toilet, wash the dishes, make a cup of coffee, have a shower or do your laundry, they’re there.
In this 2 year traineeship, you will be involved in:
- Daily operation of the sewerage & water network and treatment systems across south east Melbourne
- Performing asset isolations and restorations to enable maintenance and capital improvements
- Assist with isolation, shutdown and coordination or servicing for equipment
- Fault finding and assisting with rectification of faults
About You
- Genuine interest in the Water Industry, and South East Water’s vision
- A current valid Victorian Driver’s License is required for this role
- You must have the ability to be part of rostered after hours availability once required competencies are demonstrated.
- Ability to problem solve with an analytical mindset, with a natural curiosity to understand and constructively challenge established norms
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment and be responsive to change
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team to complete tasks according to established procedures
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- A commitment to ongoing personal development, self-awareness and resilience
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with people from different backgrounds
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships
- National Police check
- Reference Checks (combination of professional and educational references will be accepted)
- Medical and Fitness Check clearance (physical - to meet the inherit requirements of the role)

While you are based at South East Water worksites, NextGen Jobs, your legal employer, will provide you with a dedicated mentor (Field Officer) to help support and guide you throughout your traineeship. Regular visits in the workplace will take place to ensure you are developing the skills and knowledge you need and ensure have someone available when you have questions, challenges or just need to talk to someone.
