The Head of Group Finance Planning and Performance is responsible for the effective end-to-end planning, performance and advising on business and financial strategy across the Qantas Group. With a financial and strategic leadership focus this role will ensure appropriate structures, initiatives and processes are in place to meet the delivery of Qantas Group objectives, requirements and targets, and will lead opportunity development and prioritisation processes across the business The Head of Group Finance Planning and Performance will have significant influence over the creation and delivery of the Group financial strategy and targets that will inform discussion and endorsement at Group Finance Leadership Team, GMC and Board level.
Reporting into the Executive Manager Group Finance and Strategy this tole will be responsible for clear definition of the Qantas Group’s success measures over the short and long term horizons as well as performance management against their delivery - across Financial, People, Customer and Competitive dimensions - and includes assuring the achievement of the Group’s COVID recovery objectives. This role will focus on financial stewardship and risk management, stakeholder management and continuous improvement and be responsible for leading a team of Finance Business Partners as well as facilitate across teams within business segments.
What you’ll ideally bring to the role:
- 10+ years’ relevant experience operating in a similar, senior leadership position
- Graduate degree in Accounting, Finance or Business with relevant post graduate qualifications i.e CPA/CA
- Extensive experience working in multiple areas of Finance and Commercial functions
- Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence to constructively challenge senior stakeholders
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills to effectively address conflicting and competing stakeholder interests as well as negotiate contracts
- Highly developed people management skills and experience leading people managers
- Experience owning, developing and executing a Business Unit level strategy
- Demonstrated ability in partnering with other business areas to influence business decisions
- High level of personal initiative with ability to generate and drive proactive outcomes
- Analytical and strategic thinking, identifying relationships between financial and non-financial drivers with the ability to deliver clear performance advice
- Highly experienced with external stakeholder management, with an ability to maintain and enhance external networks
