An excellent opportunity has arisen for a senior lawyer to join the Corporate + Commercial + Digital Legal Team in the Department of Customer Service (DCS) to support the NSW Government digital strategy that will transform citizen and business engagement with government services.
As a Principal Solicitor in the DCS Legal Corporate + Commercial + Digital team, you will be joining a passionate, motivated, and engaged group of professionals providing strategic and pragmatic advice on a broad range of commercial/ICT matters, transformational projects, new products/apps and platform development, cyber security and privacy, interagency agreements and whole of government projects across all agencies within the DCS cluster, including Service NSW and Digital.nsw.

**Key responsibilities will include**:
- Providing strategic, pragmatic and specialist legal advice and strategy across a range of ICT, digital and commercial areas.
- Reviewing, drafting, negotiating and advising in relation to software acquisition/licensing, intellectual property in information technology and innovation projects, cloud service delivery, emerging technology in the provision of government services, liability framework/options, cyber/ IT security, privacy, commercial procurement and product development.
- Whole of Government Digital.NSW ICT Purchasing Framework contracts for ICT products and services.
- Providing legal advice on whole of government and DCS procurement projects including tender and contract preparation, advice, drafting and negotiation of contracts.
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a range of documentation including transactional documents, service/funding/consulting agreements and briefing notes.
You must demonstrate relevant post qualification experience in two or more of the following areas in private, in-house corporate or government practice:
- Corporate/Commercial Projects or Transactional matters
- ICT/Digital or Major Procurement
- IP, and Privacy
***About You**
- You must hold an Australian Practising Certificate under the Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW)
- You will have strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- You will be a commercially focused team player who can work independently and explore and provide solutions to clients.
- You will be committed to building relationships across DCS business and working collaboratively to support business requirements.
- You will have strong contract drafting, negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills

Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $134411 base plus superannuation
