**Job Description**:
The position works closely with The Age Picture Editor along with the photographic, editorial and design teams to perform assigning of jobs to photographers with precise and succinct visual briefs, photo research, occasional assignment cost estimates, help to manage freelance and casual staff, and knowledge of wires and stock agencies for some research based tasks. There will be some assisting to and liasing with The Age management, editors, photographers and journalists.

**Please note this is a part-time position on a rotating roster including evening shifts and weekend work.**

**Qualifications**:

- Must have solid writing, proofing, interpersonal and communication skills and be able to maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
- Highly organized, strong attention to detail, keen problem solving and analytical skills and the ability to think logically and be resourceful when issues arise.
- Demonstrates teamwork and positive attitude while being self-motivated and comfortable working independently and juggling several projects on tight deadlines.
- Photo editing experience in a publication, news or commercial setting.
- Understanding of photo copyright and negotiating rights usage and clearance.
- Ability to liase, manage and negotiate with photographers, journalists, some experience with talent agencies and reps, stock houses, authors, models, etc.
- Must demonstrate knowledge in photographic standards as well as a comprehensive understanding of digital file specs, size and formats.
- Some knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Lightroom and Bridge in a Mac and PC environment. A quick technology learner with demonstrated proficiency in photo editing and camera software.
