We are committed to empowering futures, ensuring rights and enriching lives. We support people to have safe, secure and well-paid work with the skills for a sustainable future as we ourselves strive to be a model employer.
We provide the framework for fair and productive relationships between employers and employees. We also oversee skills development and training initiatives to support those entering the workforce or re-training to take advantage of emerging employment opportunities.
With us, your work directly contributes to shaping the employment landscape. Whether you are engaging in policy development, program implementation, or direct support services, your efforts will have a tangible impact on job seekers, employees and the economy by giving them a framework to build a future anchored and realised through employment.
It is our ambition to do things differently, to create the ‘department of great jobs’- where our people reflect our purpose.
**The Role**
The Digital Solutions Division is seeking an experienced leader with strong and modern project delivery and portfolio management experience to lead the division’s IT Portfolio Management Office (PMO).
Directors within the Division operate with a significant degree of independence and work under the broad direction of an Assistant Secretary to deliver quality outcomes while supporting the Program of Work. In performing a leadership role, Directors identify and drive innovation, manage and lead change and have an active role in contributing to and implementing the agency’s strategic direction. We require people who are energetic, critical thinkers, thrive on a challenge and have strong leadership and management skills.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the EL2 IT PMO Director may include:
- Using a collaborative and positive approach, look for opportunities to increase efficiency, quality and performance in DSD’s digital delivery and associated processes to drive effective delivery of policy outcomes.
- Proactively identify and implement governance, process and system improvements that support appropriate rigor in overseeing DSD’s significant program of work, whilst maintaining strong communication channels with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Approach change wholistically to drive continuous improvement while addressing the context, pace and priority of each opportunity and to take staff on the journey to embedding positive change.
- Develop and coach staff, both in the IT PMO and across DSD, to embed a positive and collaborative culture with clear and consistent communication, expectations and discipline. Within the IT PMO, supervise staff and the team to drive excellence and improvement, manage performance and delegate responsibility.
- Engage and influence senior leadership by explaining complex information, raising approaches to address program of work and project challenges, and presenting opportunities for improvement to create a shared sense of purpose in driving the desired digital delivery behaviours.
- Write, review and advise on a range of written reporting, briefs and corporate documentation to provide clear and concise strategic advice and narrative, and reporting tailored to internal and external stakeholders.
**Qualifications and Education**
A high level of experience in stakeholder engagement and digital project management is required.
**How to Apply**
Applicants are required to provide a summary (no more than **500**words) that outlines skills, knowledge, and experience and why you should be considered for this vacancy. You should take into consideration the position overview (including any detailed position specific requirements) when drafting your response. Where possible include specific relevant examples of your work.
The APS work level standards accommodate the diversity of roles across the APS and are structured to clearly differentiate between the work expected (i.e. responsibilities and duties) at each classification level.
In the eRecruit (the department’s online recruitment system) you will also need to:
- upload a Curriculum Vitae
- provide contact details for 2 Referees.
