**About the Project**

After more than 35 years operating as a successful uranium mine, the Ranger Project is entering its rehabilitation stage and offers an exciting opportunity for you to make a positive impact on the environment. ERA has engaged the global engineering firm, Bechtel, to support ERA as Delivery Partner for ongoing study work.

Bechtel will be working alongside ERA and major stakeholder Rio Tinto to restore the land to the status of its surrounding World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park. A collaborative project, this project will be developed in consultation with the Mirarr Traditional Owners and will benefit the Jabiru community.

Located 8 km east of Jabiru and 260 km south-east of Darwin, the Ranger Project will lead the way in the fast-growing area of mining closures.

**About the Role**

**Key Responsibilities**
- Ensures environmental requirements are integrated into project execution, design criteria, plans and specifications and subcontracts.
- Participates in meetings with stakeholders, project team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of environmental requirements that may affect project design, construction schedule, and cost.
- Responsible for drafting project specific mitigation plans (e.g., water risk mitigation, cultural resources protection plan), and technical reports.
- Conducts environmental compliance inspections of project activities to monitor compliance with environmental requirements including contractual commitments, permits, the project’s policies and procedures, and mitigation plans.
- Maintains relationships with internal Bechtel and ERA organisations (e.g., Field Engineering, Construction, and Subcontracts), customer, and contractor/subcontractor representatives to coordinate technical/scientific issues and implementation of Environmental functions during the project.
- Maintains contact, as appropriate, with government regulatory and resource agencies to obtain current information on new regulations, program initiatives, and technical requirements and standards.
- Maintains contact with other EH&S personnel (e.g., Project Environmental Lead) to keep them informed of changing requirements and to provide technical assistance.<
- Maintains contact with professional colleagues and organizations in government, industry, and universities to keep abreast of advancements in the discipline field (e.g., water impacts mitigation, biological/ecological planning and mitigation, erosion and sediment control, air emissions monitoring, water quality, contaminated property remediation).
- Receives technical and administrative supervision and work assignments from the Project Environmental Lead or Project ES&H Manager.

**Basic Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a specialised scientific field (e.g., wetlands biology, meteorology, forestry, and archaeology) and 3 years of professional related work experience, or in lieu of degree, 9 years of progressive, related work experience.

- Specialised knowledge in a field of science (e.g., meteorology, ecology, biology, forestry, wetlands, archaeology), engineering (e.g., civil, environmental, mechanical) or related disciplines.
- Knowledge of environmental management, monitoring and mitigation systems, principles, and methodologies.
- Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and resource agencies’ permitting processes and responsibilities.
- Knowledge of engineering, construction, and subcontract work processes.
