The Area Planning & Fire Behaviour Officer provides planning support, expert advice and analysis to bush fire hazard mitigation activities and firefighting operations. The position will work with the Manager Community Risk to provide advice and support to districts to develop the various plans that are used to manage bush fire related risks.
- Can develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Can think and solve problems providing innovative and creative solutions to complex issues.
- Has demonstrated expertise in understanding fire behaviour and utilising predictive tools.
- Has a diploma in a relevant discipline or equivalent expertise.
- Has an appreciation and understanding of the issues that affect a volunteer organisation and the complexities that surround volunteer management.
This role is based in Cameron Park at the Hunter Area Command office. The Area Command includes three functional units including; People and Business, Community Risk, and Capability. Your role will work within the Community Risk space, which seeks to support the Area Command, and Lower Hunter, Hunter Valley, Central Coast, Mid Coast, and Lower North Coast Districts.
