**About the Operational Policy, School Engagement and Compliance Division**
The Operational Policy, School Engagement and Compliance (OPSEC) Division has a focus on reducing administrative and compliance burden for schools, improving policy and compliance support and streamlining the volume and timing of communications to schools.
**About the role**
The Compliance and Policy Officer contributes to school education in Victoria through coordinating the department's Legal Compliance Framework and Directory, and supporting government schools to meet their policy and regulatory obligations.
The Legal Compliance Framework provides a system for the department to identify, manage, monitor and respond to the department's compliance obligations.
2 positions are available:
- 1 fixed term 12 month role
- 1 fixed term 3 month (up to 6 months part time) role with responsibility for updating the Legal Compliance Framework to reflect legislation applicable to early learning services delivered by the department.
The role requires an ability to identify and consider compliance obligations and their potential impacts on the department. The role is provides advice to business areas on compliance risk controls. Reporting and system improvement is another component of the role, including supporting record keeping, information sharing and training delivery.
This role also supports the division's other functions, including the Policy and Advisory Library, Principal Advisory Service, and other duties as required.
The role reports to the Co-Managers, Policy and Advisory Unit.
**Capabilities**
The Compliance and Policy Officer must demonstrate:
- strong communication skills (written, listening and verbal) and attention to detail
- good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- flexibility to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- ability to work as a strong team player, with a commitment to contributing to and maintaining a healthy and positive workplace culture
- strong analytical thinking skills, particularly in relation to legal analysis and compliance
- excellent problem-solving skills
- experience or interest in managing reporting systems, record-keeping, and quality assurance and improvement
- a strong understanding of legislation, regulations, and compliance obligations
**Desirable Qualifications and Experience**
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field e.g. law.
