We are seeking individuals across Melbourne to support people with disability. A casual position with the possibility of working 30+ hours a week.

Support Your Way is an organisation that seeks to ensure every person with disability is supported to be living their best lives, tailored to their own individual experience and needs.

Support workers promote a person with disability’s independence in the community, supporting them in their daily living tasks. These tasks may include transferring and manual handling, domestic assistance, social support, in-home personal care, medication administering, meal preparation and transport.

**Preference of Support Workers**

Please note this particular recruitment opportunity will look for applicants who meet the preferences of our participants. The following preferences are highly sought after and include:

- Experience with personal care, complex behaviours, mental health and sensory support
- Commitment to family and person-centred approaches, supporting inclusion and participation
- Proficiency in English, with strong communication skills and active listening for instructions
- Medication credentialed to support participants with medical administration
- Applicants who are compassionate, empathetic, understanding and exhibit self-initiative
- Applicants with a professional background in medical or allied health areas would be advantageous
- NDIS experience highly regarded but not essential
- Qualifications in Disability and or Mental Health highly regarded
- Availability to work a variety of shift types, including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, sleepovers and active nights.

**Requirements**:
Successful applicants will be flexible in their working hours, possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate personal attributes and qualities to provide exceptional support and care to people with disability individually and within a team.
- Requirements of the role include:_
- National Police Check
- Full Australian Driver’s License and own a car
- First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Working with Children Clearance
- NDIS Workers Screening Certificate
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
- COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate
- Work history and/or experience, including resume
- Commitment to undertake in-house training and professional development as required
- Reliability and flexibility to work a variety of shift times

Prior experience in support worker roles is preferred, but those with less experience are also encouraged to apply.

**About Support Your Way**

Support Your Way is a team where the majority of its staff have lived experience of disability, and first-hand knowledge of disability support. We provide a range of disability and NDIS-related services such as in-home support, social support and social groups and support coordination.

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $33.50 - $39.50 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
All staff is required to be fully vaccinated to work in the disability sector unless a medical exemption is provided.

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Bundoora VIC: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)

**Experience**:

- disability support work: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- First Aid Certification (preferred)
- Working with Children Check (preferred)
- National Police Certificate (preferred)
- Driver Licence (required)
