**Georges River Council has an exciting opportunity for a Collections Specialist to join our Museum and Gallery, based in Hurstville.**

**About the Role**

As a Collections Specialist, you will contribute to the Hurstville Museum and Gallery by developing and maintaining the Hurstville Museum & Gallery collection, including all aspects of record keeping via the collection management system. In this role you will support the delivery of the Hurstville Museum & Gallery exhibition program through the selection, preparation and continuous monitoring of items for display.

- Tertiary qualifications in Museum Studies, conservation practices, registration or related fields
- Current Working with Children Check
- Demonstrated experience as a registrar, conservator, collections officer or other experience working with a museum and/or gallery collection
- Demonstrated ability to undertake primary research and handle historical enquiries
- Experience in accessioning, handling and storing a variety of historical material and artworks
- Demonstrated ability to undertake continuous improvements to collection management and perform preventative conservation processes when necessary
- Highly developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including effective negotiation, consultation and consensus building
- Demonstrated ability to deliver a quality customer focused service
- Proven ability to work to deadlines and within a budget
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and adapt quickly to change
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated commitment to EEO, WHS and the principles for a culturally diverse society

**Desirable**
- Current NSW Drivers Licence (Class C)
- Experience working with a multicultural client base
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification
- Ability to speak a relevant community language e.g., Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Greek
