About the Role

As part of the Strategic Procurement team, the Category Specialist is responsible for category management for a subset of the Strategic Procurement portfolio with annual spend of up to $550m and involves establishing the strategy, sourcing and development of commercial agreements, tendering, negotiation, and ongoing category management.

What you’ll be doing:

- Support the planning and development of category and sourcing strategies for group wide reviews, providing support as a key champion of Strategic Procurement
- Perform the execution of strategic sourcing activities within the Strategic Procurement categories.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to achieve successful contract execution including contract negotiation and development of Procurement Contract Approval Forms (PCAF).
- Partner with business stakeholders to deliver successful and best value sourcing outcomes from development of effective sourcing strategies to engagement and endorsement of PCAF.
- Perform accurate data analysis to support sourcing strategies against baseline data, market analysis, Total Cost of Ownership analysis, and analysis of earnings before interest & tax (EBIT) savings outcomes.
- Maintain contract governance and management including development and achievement of commercial outcomes.

About You

You will have experience developing and executing medium to large scale strategic sourcing activities and delivering in the technology and corporate categories, preferably enterprise software.

With a natural ability to develop strong networks and relationships and confidently communicate and influence both internal and external stakeholders, you will have knowledge of the business drivers and challenges faced within a large regulated organisation, along with the ability to assist group operations in translating these into requirements for inclusion in tender documents.

What you’ll bring to the table:

- Tertiary qualifications in Procurement; Business, Commerce or Law is preferred
- Membership to Chartered Institute of Procurement Supply Australia
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including written and presentation.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a complex and regulated environment
- Negotiating and influencing in a consultative and constructive manner
- Work effectively in a team to complete tasks and achieve team KPI’s and timelines in accordance with policies and procedures
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with other departments and external agencies as related to job role
- Experienced in effective communication and management of external vendors
