Female Disability Support Worker

CODA Disability Support was established in 1989 and is an NDIS registered, not-for-profit organisation that provides Personal Care, In-Home Respite and Community Access supports to adults with a disability who live in the community. Our office is based in Upper Mount Gravatt; however we provide supports to people in the extended Brisbane area including Brisbane Bayside and Southside suburbs.

We currently have an opportunity for **female Disability Support Workers** to join our vibrant, hardworking and committed team on a casual basis, supporting a female client based in **Thornlands **up to **12 hours per week**:

- with other clients in the local area that may have additional shifts available to meet your desired roster hours.

**Who will I be supporting?**

The client is a very easy-going woman in her 50's, who is looking to build her team of support workers who assist her in personal care from 6:30am - 8:30am Monday to Friday, as well as afternoon supports 3:30pm - 5:30pm on Mondays. She has an overwhelming love for Kenny Rogers, attending the markets and going on outings such a lunches and visits to the shopping centre. Whilst our client is shy at first, as you spend time together and build rapport, she has a lot of personality to share. With regards to her care needs, the client has Cerebral Palsy and mínimal verbal communication. She goes to day services during the day but requires considerable support for personal care of a morning and evening including getting her in and out of bed, and assisting with her meals. This support involves the use of a hoist.

**We are looking for someone who has**:

- Experience working as a Disability Support Worker or related field (desirable).
- A passion to support people living with a disability.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and resilience skills.
- Full understanding of professional boundaries.
- Experience in personal care and hoisting is required.

**To be successful in the role, you will have**:

- Valid NDIS Worker Screening Card / Yellow Card (or willingness to obtain)
- 2 doses of approved COVID-19 vaccination
- Current QLD Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- _Desirable: Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Disability, or Community Services (or related field). Nursing students are encouraged to apply._
