We are looking for a passionate and experienced Child Safe Advisor to lead and strengthen our commitment to child safety across the organisation and within the wider community.

This is a new position for Council - and as the Child Safe Advisor you will be a leader who can create enterprise-wide plans aligned to legislative requirements and scale the delivery to embed Child Safety across a large and complex organisation. The Child Safe Advisor will identify and mitigate child safety risks (including those from family and domestic violence matters) across council services, programs, and facilities, working to ensure compliance with child safety regulations and best practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement in child safety standards and practices.

This opportunity directly leads Council’s initiatives for the safety and well-being of children, at the organisational level and the wider community, making a meaningful difference and will lead best practice initiatives in child safety.

**What you'll bring/what we are looking for**
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, compliance, psychology, community or human services, or a related discipline, or lesser qualifications with extensive demonstrated experience in these areas.
- Sound understanding of Child Safe Standards, legislative requirements, and compliance methodologies, particularly within the Community Services sector.
- Experience in incident management practices, including investigating, reporting, and implementing corrective actions within a legislative and risk management framework.
- Proven ability to contribute to policy development and implement systems, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with legislative and quality standards.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement organisation-wide strategies, including training, education, and capacity building, to embed Child Safe Standards and build a culture of safety.

**Pre-employment requirements**
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Current Working with Children’s Check
- Psychometric Assessment
- Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) (Previously known as a police check)

- Salary $105,724.83 - $117,953.20 per annum plus super (if part time working is agreed, salary will be pro-rated)
- 18 weeks of paid parental leave - primary carer/2 weeks of paid parental leave - partner
