**About the role**

The Lead Work Health & Safety (WHS) Business Partner is responsible for working in partnership with leaders across the department to promote and develop capability regarding the implementation of the department’s safety management system.

The Lead WHS Business Partner provides strategic leadership and expert advice to both corporate and operational sites, leadership, executive and other stakeholders on complex WHS matters.

The Lead WHS Business Partner works closely with the Assistant Director, Work Health and Safety to develop unit processes that ensure high-quality and cohesive support to leaders and the achievement of unit outcomes in accordance with organisational priorities.

The Lead WHS Business Partner is responsible for providing day to day leadership to a team of WHS Business Partners, providing leadership, coaching and support to the team and ensuring the delivery of key safety projects. The role ensures continuous improvement strategies and efficient work practices within the Business Partner function and ensures that advice and support provided to Education Directors, sites and corporate business units through the Business Partner team is accurate, timely and consistent. The Lead WHS Business Partner leverages WHS knowledge and skills to build capacity and value to sites and corporate units while achieving safety performance in accordance with legislative and public sector requirements.

Proactively promoting and influencing a culture where people are safe and supported, and ensuring effective business partnerships through leadership, strong customer engagement, coaching and developing capacity and capability, while responding to operational needs are key aspects of the position.

**Qualifications**

**Essential**: NIL

**Desirable**: An appropriate tertiary qualification in: Occupational Health and Safety Management, Risk Management or other related discipline OR Cert IV in WHS or relevant experience in a similar role
**Special conditions**

The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.

The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN -EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

**Remuneration**

ASO8 $121,107 - 125,679 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (12%) and leave loading
