The Data+ Program is enabling data capability and maturity across the Office of Industrial Relations. It is a program of work delivered iteratively across three key enablers - Governance and Management, People and Technology.

The program supports improvement to data access, data analytics, processes, learning artefacts, policies and structures to ensure data is always managed the right way. Our people will be fluent in data behaviour excellence, and use data to drive OIR excellence across the department and to the people of Queensland.

As the Principal Project Officer (Data Policy), you will undertake activities relating to policy development and program delivery to meet the needs of the Office of Industrial Relations and the Data+ Program.

**Desirable skills and knowledge**
- Experience in developing policy (including Cabinet policy submissions, organisational policies, procedures, and processes).
- Clear and succinct written communication capability, with demonstrated experience in tailoring communication effectively.
- Demonstrated collaborative working style to produce tangible outputs efficiently, with ability to develop productive working relationships with colleagues.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and industry standards related to data management is highly desirable, however, not mandatory.
- Experience developing data-related policies or associated artefacts is highly desirable, however, not mandatory.
- Working in a project or program environment is desirable, however, not mandatory.

**Mandatory** requirements/Special Conditions**
- Higher learning degree, or similar, in a relevant field (e.g. law, public policy, information technology).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in policy development, preferably in the context of data governance, privacy, or information security.

**Key Responsibilities**

As the Principal Project Officer (Policy) for OIR's Data+ Program, you will be at the forefront of shaping and implementing policies that govern the collection, management, analysis, and dissemination of data within our organisation. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our data practices align with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and organisational objectives. You will have responsibility for the following:

- Lead the development and refinement of policies related to data governance, privacy, security, and ethics. Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to ensure that policies are comprehensive, practical, and aligned with business needs.
- Contribute to the development of Cabinet submissions and program artefacts, as required.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including facilitating workshops, to gather feedback, address concerns, and promote awareness of data policies and procedures.
- Work closely with internal teams, including legal, IT, compliance, and others, to ensure that data policies are integrated into existing processes and systems.
- Provide advice in relation to issues effecting relevant policy matters and provide options to ensure effective decision-making by the Program and the organisation.
- Undertake research and analysis in the development, implementation, overview, and evaluation of strategic outputs that contribute to the review of policy, procedures and processes and ensure documentation meets quality standards.
- Prepare and review reports, briefs, submissions, and correspondence relating to policy.

**EC1**. Demonstrated experience leading the development of data policy.

**EC3**. Demonstrated experience delivering quality outcomes on time.

**EC4**. Proven experience facilitating workshops with stakeholders to achieve intended outcomes.

**EC5. **Proven experience managing multiple initiatives simultaneously and driving them to successful completion.
