**Patient Transport Officer**
This is a Fixed Term Part Time (parental leave replacement) position for 10 months, up to 28.5 hours a fortnight.
**About the Role**
The PIPER Patient Transport Officer plays a vital role in ensuring that the non-Emergency teams and patients can quickly and safely be transferred between hospitals. The PIPER Patient Transport Officer has responsibility for safely transporting the teams and newborn patients in purpose built vehicles. In addition, it is expected that they will assist the teams in carrying out their tasks and maintain the vehicles to appropriate standards. They may also be required to assist with emergency transports if required
**About the Department**
PIPER improves health outcomes for newborn babies, children and women by providing emergency consultation and medical retrieval services for babies, infants, children and adolescents, and high risk pregnant women.
In addition PIPER’s statewide role includes coordinating NICU/PICU and maternity bed utilisation, collaboration with key stakeholders in the planning and implementation of strategies to improve neonatal, paediatric and maternity services in Victoria, and supporting clinicians through outreach education programs focussed on the non-tertiary health services who refer to PIPER.

**To be successful in this role, you will have**:
- Certificate III in Non-Emergency Patient Transport or equivalent qualifications
- A current, valid full drivers’ licence for the State of Victoria which is appropriate for the type of vehicle being driven, and comply with any restrictions on their licence (e.g. wearing glasses) while undertaking hospital duties
- Previous Ambulance driving experience or similar.
**Other requirements**:
- Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
- Valid Working with Children Check
- Compliance with RCHs “Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedures
