- Our UGL facility based in Adelaide performs maintenance on the Ghan and Indian Pacific trains, which are some of the most iconic rail journeys in the world. It is worth noting that the job opportunity available at Keswick depot does not involve tradesmen traveling with the train, as it is based solely at the depot.
- UGL is currently seeking a
**Mechanical Fitter **to join our rollingstock maintenance team at our Keswick facility. This role entails reporting directly to the supervisor and is available as a permanent full-time position. The work schedule for this role covers Monday to Friday on the day shift, with potential for overtime. It's important to note that there might be occasional requirement for shift work, but this will be communicated in advance. The desired commencement date for this position is at the earliest opportunity.

**About the role**
- Conduct mechanical tasks, including overhauls, installations, and fitting of mechanical equipment.
- Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and unscheduled repairs based on trade knowledge and training.
- Undertake troubleshooting and fault finding for routine vehicle issues, which may occasionally involve complex problem-solving within tight scheduling deadlines.
- Identify and rectify faults in rail carriages, encompassing carriage air brakes, bogies, undercarriage, inter-carriage equipment, and the EVAC toilet system.
- Examine and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Actively participate in 5S activities and Lean Manufacturing.
- Utilize a variety of machinery and hand tools.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to upholding a safe work environment in accordance with 5S principles.
- Adhere to rail safety and environmental directives from supervisors and operations manager.
- Booking out materials and components from the APMC store as required for assigned tasks.
- Execute any additional pertinent assignments designated by the Shift Supervisor.
