About the Role

This role is responsible for performing all financial and management accounting requirements associated with AGL’s Gas Operations businesses including projects for Gas and Renewables businesses.

The role will work closely with the business teams, providing financial analysis and advice on existing operations and future developments. It will be responsible for the preparation of monthly management reporting, preparation of annual budgets and 5-year plans, regular forecasting and management of capital expenditure. The role will also act as the liaison point between the business and Corporate Finance to ensure all financial accounting and statutory reporting matters associated with the respective businesses are appropriately managed.

What you’ll be doing:

- Prepare monthly accounting information (including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow) to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of the financial position of AGL’s Gas Operations assets
- Prepare monthly reporting and commentary on the key drivers of business performance, working closely with the business to maintain up to date forecast information, identify financial risks and put forward recommendations to improve financial performance
- Operating cost reporting and analysis
- Variance analysis vs budget forecast and prior periods
- Develop reporting, budgeting and forecasting templates and capabilities
- Manage the capital expenditure reporting for approved projects, preparing forecasts to complete and commenting on any material variances to approved budget. Works with the business to prepare capital expenditure budgets for new projects. Ensures the accuracy of the Fixed Assets Register of the Gas Operations assets
- Ensure AGL financial systems including and/or S4HANA and BPC are set up and maintained to capture and report the various assets in the Gas Operations business
- Work in conjunction with Group Finance, ensure the statutory and regulatory requirements associated with the various assets in the Gas Operations business are completed in a compliant and timely manner

About You

What you’ll bring to the table:

- Strong communications skills - able to interact effectively with both finance and non-finance people
- Commercial - able to look beyond the numbers
- Self-starter - proactive and able to manage priorities with mínimal supervision or direction
- Experienced Management Accountant in Commerce or Industry
- Experienced in & Project control management
- Exposure to the Gas Operations industries
- Experience with large ERP systems (preferably SAP)
- Previous exposure to SAP Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC), Analysis for Office - preferred
- Tertiary qualifications associated with Business, Commerce or Economics coupled with appropriate work experience in commercial environment
- Qualified Accountant (CA/CPA) - Preferred
- Delivering high quality reporting within short timeframes
- Business partnering
