**Are you an experienced Emergency Physician looking for a rewarding role in a stunning lakeside location?**
**Belmont Hospital is seeking a Staff Specialist in Emergency Medicine to provide expert patient care and clinical leadership in our Emergency Department (ED). This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit, highly skilled team delivering high-quality emergency care to the Lake Macquarie community.**

Just minutes from pristine beaches and within easy reach of Newcastle’s thriving city scene, the region offers the perfect balance between work and leisure. The Hunter Valley’s world-class wineries are less than an hour away, and Sydney is just a two-hour drive. Newcastle Airport also provides easy access to major Australian cities.
**About Our Emergency Department**:
- Dr Tim Arnold Clinical Director, Department of Emergency Medicine, Belmont Hospital - “I am proud to work as the Clinical Director of Emergency Medicine at Belmont Hospital because of the culture that we have in the department. It is inclusive and we have FACEMS over different stages of their careers working here, from first year out, to a Senior Staff Specialist and Professor of Emergency Medicine. The nursing staff are stable and strong, lead by a Nurse Unit Manager who has been part of the team for about 10 years.”_
**Our team includes**:
- FACEMs, Career Medical Officers, Junior Medical Officers, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Aged Care Emergency Nurses, Technical Assistants, Administration, and Health & Security Assistants
- Liaison Psychiatry support on site
- Strong focus on education and training, with a dedicated nurse educator team providing excellent training, including simulation
- On-site pathology and radiology (X-ray & CT) until midnight, 7 days a week, with on-call services available overnight
- Accreditation with ACRRM for the ED AST year and ongoing ACEM certificate and diploma training
We see approximately 29,000 presentations annually, with an admission rate of 14%. While we have a strong aged care patient cohort, our ED provides care to patients of all ages, including 14-20% paediatric presentations.
**Your Role as a Staff Specialist**
As a Senior Emergency Physician, you will:
- Lead clinical shifts alongside the nurse in charge and the multidisciplinary team
- Provide direct patient care and clinical supervision
- Support junior medical staff, Nurse Practitioners, and medical students in their professional development

- Recent and comprehensive experience in Emergency Medicine
- Willingness to provide overnight on-call cover for the ED
- Strong leadership skills with a commitment to patient safety and quality care
