**About Us**

We are a long-standing, boutique health food and wellness retailer located in a major Melbourne shopping centre. Our store is currently undergoing a strategic overhaul to better align with our core customer base: health-conscious women aged 35-55 who value premium, practitioner-grade wellness products, alongside high-performing ranges for family, gut health, sleep, and active lifestyles.

**About the Role**

We’re seeking an experienced Natural Health Retail Consultant or Category Specialist to lead a comprehensive review of our current inventory and provide clear, actionable recommendations on product range adjustments. This includes identifying underperforming SKUs, high-potential gaps, and strategic brand introductions that align with our customer base and differentiate us from mass-market competitors.

This is a one-off engagement, but if you deliver tangible improvements in stock turnover, customer resonance, and category performance, we are open to discussing an ongoing consulting relationship.

**Responsibilities**
- Conduct a deep SKU-level review of current inventory performance (sales data will be provided)
- Identify poor-performing and non-aligned products to phase out
- Recommend new product lines and brands (must not be widely available in large chain pharmacies/supermarkets)
- Ensure recommendations resonate with a boutique health food store audience and reflect modern customer preferences
- Provide a category-level strategy (e.g., women’s health, gut repair, kids’ health, sleep support, sports recovery, nutrient-dense pantry staples)

**Requirements**:

- Extensive experience in natural health food retail, product buying, or category management
- Deep knowledge of leading and emerging health product brands in Australia
- Strong understanding of boutique health retail trends and our core target market
- Proven track record of delivering commercially successful product recommendations
- Ability to communicate clearly, and deliver written recommendations with rationale

**Desirable**
- Former experience with health food stores, health retailers, or natural wellness chains
- Familiarity with Melbourne-based suppliers/distributors (e.g., Oborne, Unique Health, etc.)
- Access to category data, product performance trends, or proprietary insights would be highly valued

**Compensation**

Open to negotiation based on experience and scope. Please outline your preferred rate or project fee when applying.

**Job Type**: Contract
Contract length: 2-4 weeks

Pay: $24.95 - $100.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 10 per week
