**Your role**

The NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) provides vital programs and services designed to help vulnerable children, young people and their families.

The Commissioning and Planning Officer will manage contracts with human service providers in Southern NSW. The role will provide an opportunity to build relationships with partners across government and the community sector, to support the delivery of quality human services, and better outcomes for individuals, families and communities.

You will work within a dynamic Commissioning and Planning team within an assigned portfolio. The role is dynamic, fast-paced, and requires a sophisticated range of skills and experience including contract, relationship, and project management.

**What you’ll do**

As part of the Southern Commissioning & Planning team, you will build and work in partnership with DCJ funded agencies, internal and external stakeholders and partners from a relationships based approach.

You will bring your individual and professional experience, knowledge, and analysis of relevant data sources to ensure the team understands, and can respond to the unique needs of the communities and Country on which we work.

You will contribute to strategic District and local plans to respond to emerging or existing needs for vulnerable children, young people, families and communities. This involves engagement in key consultation, co-design and recommissioning processes locally and for State based initiatives and participate in the broader network and reference groups.

You'll work as part of a team of 11 Commissioning & Planning Officers across the Illawarra Shoalhaven and Southern District (ISSD).

**What we’re looking for**

To be successful in this role you will be a good negotiator and have demonstrated experience in relationship and contract management. Innovative and client focused, you will strive for excellent service delivery and promote change in the sector. High level written and verbal skills, decision making and project management skills are important. This includes writing for a variety of audiences and completion of formal and informal correspondence.

You will have connections within and across communities in Southern NSW, or demonstrated ability in rapidly developing relationships with communities.

Existing knowledge of, experience in, or transferrable skills in program design, policy development or operational service delivery in a relevant DCJ services such as early intervention, child protection, specialist homelessness services, domestic and family violence.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Current NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to travel within Southern NSW District
- Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
- National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014.
- Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
