The Opportunity:
AIA Australia is currently undergoing a large technology, data and business transformation program resulting in refreshing the technology blueprint and the introduction of contemporary ways of working with the aim of creating a simpler, faster more connected organisation.

The Data Governance Manager is a senior member within the Data Engineering & Governance team, working across different data domains, engaging with business stakeholders, working groups and technical experts to define and improve all data definitions, catalogues, lineages, qualities, standards and controls.

This is a key role within Data Governance which liaises across the entire business. Considerable influencing, consultation and communications skills are required to manage internal and external stakeholders and build relationships.
- Working with leaders across the business to lead and support data governance activities including managing data working groups and data workshops
- Leading and embedding Data Quality projects/ initiatives that will deliver tangible data quality improvement through root cause analysis, data cleansing
- Managing the roll out of AIA’s data governance framework for assigned business areas, with a focus on Data quality, Data retention standards, Data accountability
- Defining and assess business metadata through stakeholder workshops
- Supporting data workflows in Data Quality Tool (Data360 Analyze)
- Supporting the definition of a governance framework and chair or administrate appropriate forums

To be successful in this position, you will have:

- Extensive previous demonstrated experience in data management space, with significant experience within data governance
- Demonstrated experience in leading data governance activities such as data definitions, data quality checks, data workshops and data security
- Previous experience with data stewardship principles and stakeholder management to ensure an improved trajectory of consistency, accuracy, transparency and quality
- Experience in managing enterprise data dictionaries and other technology driven data description tools along with understanding of legal context and advising on permitted usage
- Experience with data governance tools (e.g. Data360, Purview) is highly regarded
- Industry knowledge of Financial Services / Life Insurance highly regarded
