**About the Role**

We are seeking **Mental Health Support Workers** across the **Illawarra region** to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will provide practical, emotional, and advocacy support to individuals, helping them build resilience, develop life skills, and achieve their personal goals.

You will work within a **trauma-informed, person-centred framework**, ensuring every individual feels heard, respected, and empowered on their journey to recovery and independence.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges
- Build strong, trusting relationships through empathy, consistency, and active listening
- Assist individuals with emotional regulation, coping strategies, and developing resilience
- Support daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, transport, and community access
- Empower clients to build life skills, independence, and engage in meaningful activities
- Advocate for the rights, safety, and needs of clients, ensuring their voices are heard
- Collaborate with families, guardians, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic, coordinated care
- Maintain accurate documentation, case notes, and incident reports in line with organisational policies
- Participate in team meetings, reflective practice, and ongoing training to enhance professional skills
- Uphold Dignified Caring’s values, policies, and safeguarding responsibilities

**About You**

**Essential**:

- Experience supporting individuals with mental health challenges, neurodivergence, or complex needs
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to remain calm and compassionate in challenging situations
- Understanding of trauma-informed, person-centred care practices
- Current **Working with Children Check (WWCC)**:

- Current **First Aid and CPR certification**:

- Valid **Driver’s Licence** and access to reliable transport
- Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, and duty of care principles

**Desirable**:

- Certificate IV or higher in **Mental Health**, **Community Services**, **Youth Work**, or a related field
- Understanding of Public Guardian processes, NDIS, and mental health care systems
